Find the Best Sightseeing in Chelsea, SW3

Chelsea is among the most affluent London areas. It is situated on the bank of the river Thames, which is its southern boundary. Most of the district is located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, with just one exception - Chelsea Harbour is part of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.

Historically, Chelsea was referred to as the bohemian quarter of the capital, a home to poets, painters and artists. The Chelsea Arts Club remains as a vivid example of that age, with its building paint always shifting to complement an event, such as circus performers or paint that made the site look as if it had been damaged to mark the celebrations of 70 years of the Blitz. Old Chelsea can be observed within the anthology of Chelsea Collection - an ever-growing collection of pictures and prints that was started in 1887.

King’s Road is the major artery passing through the area. It is often regarded as a shopping mecca, with multiple shops. Another major shopping location of Chelsea is Sloane Street, with jewellery and fashion boutiques towards the high end of expectations, such as Gucci, Prada, Dior, Chanel and others.

The area around Knightsbridge tube and Sloane Square is most desired, and properties here are object of international interests, as referred to the nickname of ‘Global Ultra Prime Residential Area’. The market is very complex, as the Cadogan Estates company of Earl Cadogan owns much of the area.

There is no tube station within Chelsea yet, but there are plans for building one. Two nearby such stations are South Kensington on the Piccadilly, Circle and District linesand Sloane Square on the Circle and District lines.
